Scope of Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to paralegals and attorneys in investigating facts, preparing final documents and servicing clients.

Essential Job Functions:

The Paralegal Assistant will provide assistance to paralegals and attorneys in investigating facts, preparing final documents and servicing clients. Essential job functions related to this specific position includes:

  • Assist with routing, reviewing and recording all necessary documents – including titles, surveys, financing certificates, obtaining zoning information, and other due diligence depending on the type of property.
  • Assist in the acquisition, development, funding and financing of wind and solar projects.
  • Assist with maintaining and tracking lease packages, mailings, and other project related correspondence.
  • Track various work streams and coordinate with paralegals and attorneys internally as well as clients externally regarding respective work streams.
  • Assist with preparation and review of landowner estoppels for acquisition/disposition and financing transactions.
  • Assist with preparation, review, coordination of various mailings and other client requests for wind and solar projects.
  • Assist with final lease preparation, including:
    • review and track ancillary documents and agreements, reviewing executed lease and easement agreements;
    • work closely with paralegals and attorneys to define proper execution of documents.
  • Learn/develop technical proficiency in database use and management, internet/electronic research, and project folder/electronic file maintenance.
    • Proficiency with Smartsheet or similar document management cloud-based software preferred;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Correspond with clients via email and telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Independently organize and manage files.
  • Attend and participate in in-house CLEs.
  • Meet billable hour requirement of 1000 hours per year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 - 2 years related legal experience in Real Estate preferred.
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from ABA approved program preferred.
  • Significant, substantive legal, title or real estate development experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently and be an independent thinker.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize workflow and manage projects; excellent time management skills
  • Ability to perform effectively and take direction from timekeepers.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced, continually changing environment.
