Litigation Attorney – Maryland/DC

Our office in Leesburg, VA serves the real estate financial industry of Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, and Virginia.

We are seeking a Litigation Attorney. Reporting to our Managing Litigation Attorney, this position is responsible for reviewing files as they are assigned, developing, and communicating strategy, preparing pleadings and discovery requests as well handling title-related legal matters. This is a Remote/Hybrid opportunity with occasional team meetings in the Leesburg, VA office.

Orlans PC has extensive experience representing investors, lenders, banks and special servicers in loan transactions, bankruptcy proceedings and default. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

-Responsible for reviewing files as they are assigned and developing strategies for handling files.

-Responsible for communicating strategies to clients, preparing and previewing pleadings and communicating same with clients.

-Responsible for preparing and answering discovery requests, motions and briefs.

-Responsible for attending hearings, preparing and communicating case status reports, and preparing billing reports.

-Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required and Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor required.

-Barred in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

-Two to Five years of legal practice experience required, including experience in corporate law.

-Demonstrated high level of ability to perform research and efficiently and effectively communicate results both verbally and written, including publication.

-Knowledge of various corporate structures and arrangements and demonstrated ability to review and recommend alternatives.

-Demonstrated ability to effectively assess and balance risks and make business decisions.
