Tax Litigation Attorney

Varnum LLP seeks to hire an attorney to join the Tax Practice Team. This position is open to any of our Michigan offices. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience in tax court litigation, with extensive civil tax controversy experience and some time spent in the public sector as a trial lawyer in both federal and state courts. The ideal candidate will have experience in refund litigation matters. Experience with the IRS Chief of Counsel, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and/or the DOJ Tax Division is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop business, which may include a portable book of business with growth potential; the ability to manage files, supervise client contact and lead cases; the ability to simultaneously juggle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of responsiveness; exceptional attention to detail; and outstanding customer/client service skills. Admission to the Michigan bar is required.
