Position Profile

Weaver's State and Local Tax team is looking for an Indirect (Sales/Use) Tax Senior Associate to join their growing team. State and Local Indirect Tax Senior Associates have in-depth, first-hand experience in a wide range of industries. They draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide consulting services to corporate clients. State and Local Indirect Tax Senior Associates identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. State and Local Indirect Tax Senior Associates’ primary responsibilities include working on complex Indirect tax audits, managed audits and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits). They are also responsible for preparing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries by thoroughly researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and tax implications.

Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • CPA, CPA Candidate, or CMI desired (certification is required for advancement)
  • 2+ years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm or similar industry experience with a focus on indirect (sales & use) tax compliance and consulting
  • Familiarity with basic tax research techniques (RIA, CCH) required
  • Knowledge of managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence and billing preferred
  • Ability to analyze raw data from ERP systems to reconcile to trial balances and tax returns
  • Experience working with audits and reverse audits
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
