We have one of the largest business immigration practices in the United States; our immigration practice group consists of experienced and dedicated immigration lawyers and paralegals who work with domestic and international corporations and businesses in developing appropriate strategies to facilitate the international transfer of skilled employees.

Our fast-paced business immigration practice has an opportunity for an experienced PERM Paralegal to work with our Columbia based team! The PERM Paralegal will assist in drafting and filing PERM applications, including prevailing wage requests, and 9089 applications with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Essential Functions

  • Perform advanced analysis to identify legal and procedural issues relating to immigrant status.
  • Perform initial review and analysis of prospective PERM cases, flagging issues for attorney review.
  • Assist in drafting minimum requirements and job descriptions for PERM roles.
  • Review and file Prevailing Wage Requests for PERM.
  • Conduct labor market testing for PERM, including drafting advertisements to be sent to ad agents and posting job orders.
  • Draft and review Form ETA 9089 for PERM filings.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for corporate clients concerning PERM cases.
  • Draft and review employment verification letters to be used in I-140 filings.
  • Draft forms and assemble documents for PERM-based I-140 filings.
  • Oversee approximately 60 PERM cases independently, with responsibility for tracking deadlines and prioritizing cases.
  • Review the work product of junior staff before it is sent for attorney review.
  • Assist junior staff with determining deadlines and prioritizing cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • 3+ years’ full cycle PERM experience required.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when necessary to reach Firm objectives.
  • Must have the ability to work well with a team and independently.
  • Must be able to achieve basic proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Zoom/VisaTrax, and DMS within a reasonable training period.

Benefits

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $64,900 and $80,300. In accordance with New York City’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York City position is between $68,800 and $85,300. In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $61,100 and $94,600. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $65,900 and $80,600. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
