2950 - Commercial Litigation Jr. Associate

McGuireWoods
Chicago Full Time
Reference: mcguirewoods2950

Job Description:

McGuireWoods’ Chicago office seeks a Jr. Associate in the Commercial Litigation Department to focus on healthcare litigation, False Claims Act actions, and internal and government investigations, as well as general litigation.

The McGuireWoods Commercial Litigation group is equipped to assist all manner of companies, including financial institutions, public companies and closely-held corporations, in all aspects of commercial litigation and dispute resolution. We have extensive experience:

  • defending clients in high-stakes litigation such as banking and securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits and regulatory investigations;
  • representing officers and directors as individual defendants; and
  • advising clients regarding risk mitigation and compliance with state and federal laws.

We coordinate closely with our e-discovery team to efficiently manage the discovery burdens associated with complex litigation. When criminal proceedings run parallel to civil litigation, we work with the firm’s white-collar defense team to manage the client’s interests in a unified manner. While we stand ready to try cases in both federal and state courts, we also explore alternative resolution options when they will help clients achieve their objectives, reduce costs and administrative burdens, and offer creative solutions not typically available through the courts.

Along with excellent benefits, McGuireWoods offers our attorneys a competitive salary with hours and merit bonus opportunities, billable hours credit for pro bono work, and a hybrid in office/remote option allowing flexibility and work-life balance.

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have 1 – 3 years of litigation experience. Due to the fact that one main focus for the position will be healthcare litigation, related experience is a plus but not required. Excellent academic credentials and writing skills are also required. Candidates who have completed a federal clerkship are preferred. Please submit cover letter, resume, law school transcript and writing sample.
