Position Overview

Day Pitney's Complex Commercial Litigation group is seeking a Staff Attorney with 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience to join our team in New York, NY. This is a non-partnership track position.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in all aspects of complex commercial litigation and familiarity with the state and federal courts in New York. We are looking for candidates with strong writing and drafting skills who are excited about litigating. Consumer finance and creditors' rights experience is preferred.

Day Pitney Consumer Finance and Creditors' Rights team represents creditors, including financial institutions, banks, lenders, mortgage companies, automobile lenders and retailers, credit card companies, and collection companies in a wide range of claims by borrowers and third parties under state and federal laws. The practice includes defense of claims arising under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), as well as a variety of state and common law claims.

Day Pitney offers a hybrid in-office / remote work schedule to provide our attorneys greater flexibility.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of solid commercial litigation experience (consumer finance and creditors' rights experience is a plus)
  • Excellent writing skills, including drafting and arguing pleading and motions
  • Strong verbal communication and advocacy skills
  • Excellent technical, professional and client service skills
  • Team-oriented with an emphasis on collaboration
  • Effective and efficient problem solving capabilities with the ability to work independently and proactively, and to develop creative solutions to meet client and team needs
  • New York bar admission in good standing (dual admission in NJ is a plus)

In accordance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the expected annual salary for this New York City position is $160,000. Actual annual salary will be commensurate with candidate's qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
