McGuireWoods LLP is looking for a Litigation Paralegal for the Products Liability Litigation group in our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of experience directly supporting attorneys with tasks such as organizing discovery, deposition/trial preparation, managing calendars/dockets, basic drafting of legal documents and e-filing at the state and federal level.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts legal research to support the needs of the client.
  • Performs basic factual research and investigation related to client matters and other due diligence as appropriate.
  • Collects, organizes and maintains documents and files related to legal matters, including documents received from the client, opposing parties or other sources.
  • Manages calendars, docket and tickler systems, and assists in meeting deadlines.
  • Drafts basic pleadings, assists and responds to discovery requests and production of documents, court filings (federal and state), and helps to prepare for trial.
  • Ensures filings are in compliance with court rules and e-filing documents therein.
  • Proofreads legal documents.
  • Assists with pro bono matters as needed.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience.
  • Experience preparing for and attending depositions and trial.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, particularly with case files/document management.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Advanced technical skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-discovery platforms.
  • Skilled at social media research and investigation.
  • Conversational Spanish skills preferred.
