About the Role

The Research & Litigation Services Attorney Artificial Intelligence (AI Attorney) is an integral part of Lathams Litigation Services team. This role will be responsible for providing legal advice, strategic consulting, and training services on legal issues related to generative artificial intelligence and the law, while monitoring current legal AI developments and informing attorneys of significant events through emails, bulletins, and other appropriate means. This role will be located in any of our Latham and Watkins offices. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research platforms, including those harnessing artificial intelligence, to provide high-level legal research, analyzing strategies, and interpreting trends with respect to AI-related issues across jurisdictions
  • Actively participating in internal firm working groups and practice teams focused on artificial intelligence; attending conferences, seminars, and Continuing Legal Education courses to remain current in case law and industry developments relating to emerging technologies
  • Researching judicial statements, court standing orders, and jurisdictional trends regarding the use of artificial intelligence, including transcript review and panel attendance
  • Collaborating with Innovation and Technology Solutions Attorneys, Practice Support, eDiscovery, Litigation Services, Research & Library, Ethics, and Knowledge Management attorneys, and business services colleagues across the firm to develop repositories, best practices, trainings, thought leadership, and additional offerings
  • Maintaining familiarity with and effectively leveraging emerging and innovative technologies

Wed love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exhibit a demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide strategic support to firm leadership
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the concepts and principles of artificial intelligence as it relates to legal matters

And have:

  • A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one US state bar
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant law firm experience as an innovation and/or practicing attorney

Pay Range

USD $145,000.00 - USD $180,000.00 /Yr.
