Bankruptcy Paralegal

Overview

QPWB, a national law firm, has an opening for a Bankruptcy Paralegal for our Financial Services Division. This is a full-time position, competitive salary and benefits package offered.

JOB SUMMARY:

The individual in this role primarily supports a team of paralegals and attorneys with operational duties involving bankruptcy cases for mortgage, auto, and banking clients. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients and employees of the firm.

Responsibilities

Under attorney direction, draft and prepare bankruptcy pleadings including but not limited to motions for relief from the automatic stay, proof of claims, claims related pleadings, various motions, and bankruptcy litigation. Monitor court and client deadlines to streamline prioritization of work. Communication with clients. E-file documents. Update case management and client systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience within a default mortgage law firm and/or mortgage loan servicer
• Previous bankruptcy experience either on the debtor or creditor side.
• Familiarity with client interface systems such as BlackKnight (LPS), Tempo, etc. in order to maintain the proper status of the case and the upload of applicable documents.

• Bankruptcy e-filing experience required.
• Understanding of bankruptcy billing.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel (intermediate to advanced), Power Point and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw).
• Experience in case management systems such as CaseAware is a plus, but were happy to train the right candidate.
• Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Physical Demands

This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching and other motions in the course of a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting of supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.

Working Conditions

This position is fully remote. However, we are also open to a hybrid setup if you are geographically located near one of our offices.
