Overview

Cleary Gottlieb is seeking DC-barred project attorneys to assist the Firms associates and partners in the management of document review, analysis and production for the Firms litigation, antitrust, and securities enforcement practice areas. The project attorney position is a temporary, as-needed, nonexempt attorney position with no weekly minimum expectation or guarantee of hours to be worked. The project attorney position is hybrid with periodic in-office attendance required; all candidates must have or attain residency in the D.C. metro area.

Position: Non-exempt

Supervisor: Consulting Attorney, Discovery & Litigation Technology

Supervises: May be asked to supervise paralegals, temporary attorneys, and other office personnel depending on needs of cases and/or assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews documents for responsiveness to document requests
  • Assists the Firms partners and associates in responding to interrogatories
  • Conducts research into the industry that is the subject of the document request
  • Assists in developing plans and procedures for document production
  • Works with and, where appropriate, directs and trains paralegals and temporary attorneys
  • Assists the Firm in other matters not related to document production if and when needed
  • May assist in on-site client interviews and document production

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Must be an active member in good standing of the DC Bar
  • Prior document review experience, preferably with large-scale second requests
  • Experience serving as a team leader or in another leadership capacity in a document review setting preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, diplomacy, and customer service
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Flexibility to work consistent overtime
  • No start date has been determined
