Job Title – Associate Attorney

Company & Department - OPC Attorney

Overview of Position – This position is accountable to develop and share subject matter expertise with clients, partners and members of the firm; review documents; oversee non-attorneys; and practice law as member of a team in our law firm.

Remote/In Office or Hybrid – Remote/Hybrid

Position Level – Pay level 5 – Exempt

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Subject Matter Resource - Develop and share subject matter expertise with co-workers and external clients to move files and achieve client objectives.

Continuously improve as a subject matter resource by staying current on legal issues relevant to the AOP assigned and default servicing in all jurisdictions in which the attorney is barred.

Research and review unfamiliar legal concepts or processes to increase knowledge.

Develop and demonstrate an understanding of the area of practice assigned and those related practice areas (Foreclosure, Title, Probate, BK, Lit, Eviction) that affect their process.

Discuss and review unfamiliar legal concepts or processes with Lead AOP Attorney or Senior Associate Attorney to ensure legal compliance and consistency with Law Firm polices and operations.

Exercise good judgment and apply legal principles effectively and consistently when providing legal advice or when responding to questions, escalations and inquiries.

Respond timely and manage risk when issues arise in files and questions are raised by staff, borrowers or clients.

Provide timely, clear and efficient responses to questions from staff and clients (limited to barred jurisdictions) regarding existing processes, operations, or legal requirements.

Respond to requests from client communications and escalate requests when necessary.

Legal Review Counsel (Proofer) - Provide legal and compliance review of documents to achieve client objectives.

Review, verify the content, quality, accuracy and legal sufficiency of all applicable documents (and execute them when appropriate).

Correct documents so that each is legally sufficient, complies with local legal requirements and satisfies client contractual expectations.

Monitor attorney tasks and staff communications regularly each day to ensure timely responses are provided and that assigned tasks are completed within 24 to 48 hours.

Use good judgment and escalate questions to AOP Lead Attorney or Senior Associate Attorney whenever any issue or question exceeds experience level.

Assist and support other practice areas when necessary to achieve client objectives and balance workloads.

Oversight Partner - Oversee, educate, and collaborate with Towne Auction and eTitle in compliance with legal, ethical and client requirements to achieve client objectives.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the law firm, eVantage and eTitle.

Oversee the progress of files to milestone targets.

Provide legal oversight to staff regarding legal and process requirements and the preparation of documents.

Provide legal counsel to staffto satisfy the Firm’s contractual obligations in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.

Provide oversight of staff at file-level with an ability to explain legal concepts and operational processes created and distributed by the Managing AOP Attorney.

Respond timely, effectively and accurately to communications on file-level matters and escalate to Lead AOP Attorney as needed.

Provide feedback to the Lead AOP Attorney and Managing AOP Attorney on performance affecting client deadlines, performance expectations, turn times and efficiency.

Receive and apply feedback received from Towne Auction and eTitle.

File Manager - Apply legal judgment and process knowledge to enable clients to reach timeline goals by removing obstacles that prevent file progression.

Practice law by recognizing that decisions on individual files must be balanced with the needs of the firm and clients.

Provide simple, clear and concise directions on files.

Review aged files in client portfolios regularly and develop strategies to move files.

Participate in discussion on restarts and other delays.

Participate in workgroups, client calls and other discussions, as requested;

Job Requirements:

Law School Diploma and acceptance to relevant bar association.

Evidence of status of “Good Standing” according to relevant bar association.

Technology Required:

Position requires Strong Windows and MS Windows and Office (including Word, Outlook, and Excel) experience required; knowledge of Adobe/Nuance Power PDF; being comfortable with new technologies/websites and should be an advanced technology/computer user.
